Progressive Surge Protector
I just bought the Progressive EMS-PT50C and this is the first trip out with it. I'm wondering if it could be too sensitive. It shuts down the power a couple of times a day where we are staying and this is a almost new, quality RV park that I really don't think has any issues withe the power. It also shut down at the RV parks we stopped at to get to this destination. I like the fact it's doing it's job, but is it doing it too well?

Well Mark, the first question is what kind of job is it doing? Why is it shutting down? Over voltage, under voltage..........? or something else? If it is shutting down the electric at 2 different places, might have a problem with the unit. You will have to take a voltage meter and try to find out what is shutting it down. When it shuts the power down, does it time out and come back on?

Yes, it always comes back in the normal time range. I am not sure how to check the 50 amp plugs with my 110 volt meter.

When it shuts down it displays a fault code which is what ?
It can shut down for many reasons, knowing which one will help in your diagnosis. PI is a great service company that will be very helpful in your resolution.

Does it record the faults? Because it comes back so fast that by the time I figure out what happened and get out there it's coming back up.

If you look at the display at anytime before the power from the pedestal is interrupted you can see what the last shutdown code was. As the display cycles through, look for a PE value. That is "previous error". That will tell you why it's interrupting power.

The previous error will be displayed as a PEx code, such as PE2 (open ground.
If there is no existing or previous error, it is usually a momentary drop-out of camp power.
The codes are on the front if my PT50C

Macnkat:
Here's the link on testing the plugs with a multimeter.
Electrical Testing
The inconsistencies of campground electricity will take their toll, so as annoying as it can be I'm always thankful when my PI EMS does it's job. And when I am in Canada for a month, it works overtime!

I have had low voltage at many camp grounds. Have not tested yet with multi tester yet because I left it at home. This is not the best thing to due because it's hard on the AC unit, but I flip the bi-pass, at least for a while. I now carry my free HF multi tester in the coach.

OK, so it doesn't have a PE code but is flashing a L-1 and L-2 code along with 122 which is the current draw. I betting it's doing it's job and we're getting micro spikes of some kind.
Thanks for all the help.

If it is doing its job shutting power off because of a problem then there should be a PE code that can be read immediately after the power comes back on.
You will not have any codes if the pedestal loses power completely such as a Black-Out. That's the same as turning the power off at the pedestal.

If it's flashing 122 I would guess that's voltage. 122 would be a lot of amps.
