Do you have the same dish antenna at home? If yes, no problem. Just plug in the antenna and it will work fine. If you do not have the same antenna at home, you will have to run the Check Switch after you get signal on the bar. This will let the receiver determine what LNB (antenna) is attached. After you get home, you will have to run the Check Switch again to get the receiver tuned to your home antenna.
The only problem you may run into is you may not receive the local networks after you get 200 (or so) miles from home. Most of the local networks are on 'spot beams' that limit reception to limited geographic areas.

I will be posting a blog later about my business and what nots with satellite and especially with DirecTV but what "edj" said is 100% true! you can however contact DishNetwork and tell them that you are using your receiver in your RV, they will send out a waiver for you to sign and that will allow you to receive locals from whatever area you are in with a simple phone call, or they will allow you to receive "national locals". If interested, just call them, they'll explain it all!
Good Luck!

You don't need any waver for locals. When out of your home area just call dish and give them your current address and they will activate the locals for that area. Only time you need a waver is if you want the Distant Network Service.

If you are taking a short trip in your RV and want TV you have the right hardware and you don't need any waivers and you don't need to contact Dish Network. If you are going to be traveling for weeks or months then you "might" want to fill out the DNS waiver for Network programming depending upon how long you will be on the road. This assumes that no one will still be at home watching a receiver there as well. If you do want to sign up for the DNS services don't call DN. You will find the waiver forms at the top of this forum, fill them out, send them in, done.
Your other option for Network TV is using your existing roof mounted over-the-air TV antenna. In most cases this is the Winegard "Batwing" antenna. This will give you excellent TV as long as you are in an area serviced by these signals.

I forgot one thing when I made this post.... You should hook up the spare dish antenna while you are still at home. Set up the tripod in your yard and run the coax into the house to your dish receiver. Now you can try it out and verify that it will work as it should. Get the procedure to make the change-over confirmed before you get to the CG and try to hook it up.

If you want to get the locals for the area you are currently camping in, call DISH and tell them that you want to change your Service Address. Your Billing Address will remain the same; only the Service address changes. Use the mailing address of the campground (not a PO box). If the "droid" you get on the phone says you can't do it, hang up and call again till you get a person who knows what they are doing.
