My F350 dually has radar in the back bumper that beeps in the cab when I get close to something while backing. The closer I am, the faster it beeps. I can reliably get my bumper within 3" of anything using this system, and I can always depend on it letting me know if there is something in my way. Heck, I can get my back bumper closer to a wall without hitting it than my front bumper.

Does anyone know if there is a retro-fit kit I could install in the back of my RV to do the same? Seems like it would be a great help when I find myself backing alone.

Although they might be available I haven't seen any radar backup alarms, but I have seen what is basically a sonar system using ultrasonic sound pulses.
In any case there are a lot of after market units available. A quick Google on "back up alarms" brought up a bunch of them.

You might also consider a wireless backup camera. It would not only tell how close you are to an object, but which way you need to move to avoid it.

If you want to PM me, I can put you in touch with a friend in Maylasia that makes and markets these units.
He does sell in the US and could put you in contact with one of his reps..
