My Sony crapped out, too. Now I just use the radio part. I bought 3 different types of MP3 players (to see which one I liked best) and put all my CDs onto them.
Then I bought an FM signal transmitter. I just plug an MP3 player into it, then turn on radio and listen to "my" music. I use this in the toad, too.
No more lugging around CDs or tapes, etc.
Doing this tranfer job takes time, but you just spread that out over time.
All the music goes onto your laptop or computer first, then into MP3 player, so you have them all organized (as much as you want), and you have it all stored there so if you loose or break an MP3 player, you can just get a new one and easily put the music back on.
For size I recommend the Phillips one from Wallyworld, $50. For ease of use, and bigger screen, I go with Sony walkman from Staples, $70.
I leave one in each vehicle. For your very favorite CDs, put them on all your MP3 players, then your never without that song you wanna hear.
I recommend that if your radio still works, do this and save a lot of space and weight.
Also....if your radio has a jack on it for plugging in the MP3, use that instead of the FM transmitter.
*** I discovered a GREAT side beneifit !!!
I use the MP3 with tiny headphones to go shopping with. Now I have a much more enjoyable time inside wallyworld or grocery stores.
If you ever see an old guy walking the isles with headphones on, with a happy smile on his face, give him a 'thumbs up'...'cause it could be me.
