Radio Removal
Hello, I'm brand new here and brand new to RV'ing. I have a 2006 Holiday Rambler Admiral and am trying to replace the radio. Does anyone know how to remove it. I think the face has to come off first to expose the mounting hardware but I don't see how.

Mant, not sure what radio you have, but my experience is that there are 4 holes ( 2 on each side of the radio) that accept a radio removal u shaped tool. When inserted the complete radio comes out of dash. Google "radio removal tool" May be able to use a cut metal hanger.

I was wondering what those holes were for. Do all four have to be pressed at once?

Probably ... my radio (and car) have 2 slots and the radio came with 2 flat steel tools that slide in and release the spring catch on each side. Sometimes a thin knife (like a cheap steak knife) will work.

The tools are available at Walmart and auto parts stores. Here is a link on how to make them

Once you have cleared that hurdle, you should be able to slide the radio towards you.
However!!!!
Some radios will have an additional support attached to the back of the radio usually attached with a nut over a stud on the radio itself. You may have to reach around and feel for that.
Also, some radios are a little miserly in the wire length of the harness. You may again have to reach in from behind and either
A unclip the modular plug from the back of the radio itself or
B separate the molded connector that is connected somewhere between the radio and the main wiring harness in the vehicle. (if you have one of these)
Don't forget to unplug the radio antenna from the back either. This just plugs in
After jumping through these hoops you should be able to slide the radio out.
Then the fun begins. Make sure you have and idea of what wires were for what on the old radio. More than likely they will different from the new one. You will have to make the new harass connect to right wires on the rig side. Google can be your friend on this. You may have to dig up a manual online for the old radio to know which wires went where.

Thanks a lot! I got the radio out with two pieces of wire and a little wiggling. Now I have to look for a new one, any recommendations? No chances of a ready made harness? I would hate to have to splice all the wires. The old radio has two sets of wires separate from the regular harness labeled Aux1 and Aux2, the are running somewhere behind the dash. Any idea what they are for?

I use 4 sixteen penny (very common) nails. Super easy.
