I need to replace my dash radio. Winnebago told me the original radio is a Magnadyne radio, model 9999. I did a search and was lead to believe that this is a crummy radio and difficult to replace with a like magnadyne radio. Best I could come up with is a Magnadyne M1-CD
I did a lot of calling and if I am correct, this radio is a 1.5 DIN which is approximately 78mm high, or a bit over 3 inches. I measured the old radio and got approximately 7.1 inches wide by 3.3 inches high.
My question is, can I just go to Best Buy/Radio Shack/internet, find a 1.5 DIN radio and it should fit. It is for a 2004 Winnebago Journey. The guy from Magnadyne told me there are 8 speaker wires, two power wires, and one ground wire that would have to be spliced, as I probably wouldn't find a harness that would adapt from a new radio to the Winnebago wiring.
If we get a new radio we would like USSB, MP3, and sd card input. Any thoughts or suggestions on replacing a radio. I'm not an electronic wizard but could probably replace and splice in a new radio unless it takes special tools or knowledge to "fit" the new radio into the old opening. I will appreciate any help or ideas.
Jim

You might check out Crutchfield.com.
Dodge trucks uses a 1.5 Din radio.
Hope this helps.

You can go to Best Buy as you asked, or any car audio store. Do you have 8 speakers or 4 speakers with 2 wires each. most radios can easily do 4 speakers, but make sure the new one has fade & balance controls. Fade does the rear to front speakers & balance does left to right. I know Best Buy has several face plates that are made so just about any radio will fit in almost any vehicle. I would think that they probably don't list motor homes, but a little trail & error will find the right adapter if you need one. Most new radios come with a standardized faceplate for thier radio, get the correct size radio & it will probably fit with no alterations.
I would suggest you get a generic wire adaptor if it doesn't come with one, that way if you ever need to remove the radio it will just unplug, the hard wired end would stay in the mh dash. You also may need some wire splices, there are a few different types, the clamp type, you use pliers to sqeeze closed & close the top to hold it closed, the crimp type use a special squeezer called a crimper to crimp them on the wires. These are better than the clamp type in my opnion. They can also be crimped with a pair of wire cutters if you are careful. then wrap with electrical tape if you cut the plastic sleeve.

They make insert that allows you to put a regular din radio into a 1.5 din slot. This would give you a better slection of radios. After that is what you want to spend and the options you want. Also think real hard about replacing the speakers. Good speakers make a bad radio sound better but bad speakers make everything sound bad and unless you have replaced the speakers they are bad.
