Rand McNally Dock

I have a Rand McNally 7720 and can not open the dock for updates, anyone else have this problem. I am using firefox on pc.

Had the issue once. I uninstalled then reinstalled the program and has worked great since then.

I have uninstalled and installed again and same thing. I have contaced RM customer service but have not received any feedback yet.

Just so you don't feel alone I am having the same or similar problem on a desktop PC, xp SP3. Had rand tech support for over an hour and still couldn't resolve the problem. The tech said all requirements are met and the correct version. The task manager shows the dock software is running but it will not open to the user screen.

The dock software works fine on my laptop running xp sp3. Go figure.

Two computers that won't talk to each other... must be husband and wife.
Seriously, I had a communication issue between the 7720 and dock one day, kept wanting me to re-register. Battery power was low on the 7720.
I,d been playing and run the system low. Charged up using 110v overnight and haven't had the problem again. Just in case this info is of any help.

I found my problem today. A bit, well maybe a lot techie, but the Environment Variable PATH was missing a semicolon ";" when the rand software installed. Once I added the missing ";" all is well.

If you don't know about Environment Variables and PATH on your PC this isn't much help. And if I attempt instructions here some could do more damage than good. So if you are having the problem find someone that knows DOS and they should be able to help.

I have the 7720 LM, have not been able to install software as the device is not recognized. RM sent a new cable but still a no go. Setting up a return tomorrow. Works great but unable to get updates or use other features. Best database for campgrounds, device centers, Walmart, etc. Look forward to a 100% working model.
