Rand McNally RVND 7720 GPS
Rand has released a new truck GPS TND 720. It has the same features as the TND 710, with some new features such as a brighter screen (no surprise there) and WiFi connectivity. I called Rand to see if there was going to be a RV version, and he confirmed they will be releasing one shortly, named (you guessed it) RVND 7720.
He explained with the WiFi connectivity you would be able to download a weather map overlay, and if you have wifi access while driving, such as an air card or mifi, you can have a weather overlay on your map as you're moving. It will also have wind speed and temperature. Here's a You Tube video of the wifi weather feature on the TND 720.
He did not know what the projected MSRP of the RVND 7720 would be, and had not even actually seen one, although he had seen and used the TND 720.

I have seen it offered at $349.95- I think on Amazon. Looking for someone who has bought one & used it in an RV. It sounds very good?

7720
Got mine today -- seems to be a definite improvement over the 7710.

Have you tried the WiFi weather feature even from your home connection?

7720 WiFi

Yep, works great. The 7720 detects local WiFI hotspots very well. Once you enter a password for a hotspot, the 7720 remembers it.
However, each time the 7720 is powered down you have to "enable" WiFi in Preferences on powerup. I think this is done so Rand McNally can put up a screen each time that essentially says "You're responsible for any wireless data charges". Wonder how much bandwidth this guy is using.
Anyway, the screen is much brighter. I just started using the 3D maps feature which I think is an improvement over the 7710's.

Is the screen more readable in daylight and glare? I returned my 7710 because it was unreadable in day use. Fine at home, but what good is that.
Hope the screen is much improved because the unit was feature rich.

Does the 7720 have an external antenna input and what type plug is it? My old faithful Garmin 7200 has a MCX plug for my rooftop GPS antenna and I'd want to hook up to the existing antenna. The plug could be changed.
