Rand McNally RVND7735 Good Sam

I just found out that if you bought a Rand McNally RVND 7735 with a Good Sam logo on it, you are stuck paying $27 a year to Good Sam to use their trip making program. You can't go onto Rand McNally and use theirs (free).Well, you can use it, but you can't download it to your Good Sam logo unit. Beware!!!
Screwed by Good Sam and Camping world again. Will buy a Garmin when this dies.

Which may be sooner than you think -- had the 7310 & 7320. The latter came DOA.

Now I'm a happy Garmin 760 user.

if yours worked out of the box you are way ahead of me. Mine is useless...well maybe a small overpriced wheel chock is about all its good for. Ours has been updated several times and it will still send me down roads I have no business on, like ones that are not even paved. All settings are correct. I called their tech support, since it was a present and by the time the season rolled around I was out of warranty, go figure. They wouldn't stand behind it.

I've come close to tossing my 7320 out the window several times, but would probably get nailed for littering !
I think it would be about as usefull as a wheel chock as it is as a GPS !!

You'd think that would be disclosed somewhere....maybe that fine print where a stellar telescope is needed to see it.

Our RM7720 was getting outdated & once DH found out "lifetime updates" only meant the lifetime of how long RM supported the model...well, we've got a Garmin now.

That's the model I have, a 7720LM.

I believe it's still recieving updates. Even the map update once a year.
It's routing is horrible though . The other day it had me turning onto a road clearly marked ' No Trucks over 5,000 KGS'.
Just one of many, many stupid route choices it has made!!

DH always cross-checks w/Google Maps on routes. There's been a time or 2 our RM tried to send us down non-RV friendly roads (i.e. dead end! )

I'm not saying Garmin is any better - we haven't had it long enough to find out yet - just different. It is WAY faster than our 7720, but then the 7720 is several years old.....old technology seeing as how fast these things change.

I have a RM7710 and I don't like it. I can't trust it.

But I've ranted about this too many times already.

To the OP: Did you buy it at CW? Can you return it?

I hear ya .

I rarely bother posting in R.M threads, but if I wanted to get my post count up to 3,000 in a hurry ...... I could certainly recount some R.M adventures

We've now been using our 7710 for 5 years. I have no complaints worth listing. No GPS is perfect, they all seem to have their own idiosyncrasies.
