Hello All, I just purchased the Rand McNally 7710 GPS and had a question about the Real Traffic option. My last GPS was a Garmin and on my car charge cord was the Traffic receiver and used the USB port to connect. I was wondering if I could use the Garmin cord with the Rand McNally to receive the Live Traffic. Anyone ever try this? both work off the USB port.

Usually, if the GPS does live traffic the antenna for that option is in the power cord. Just switching power cords would not give you traffic on a non traffic GPS

Since your Garmin and the 7710 are both traffic capable, there is a chance that this might work provided the data specifications are the same. The provider of the traffic service is likely the same, so it might work. I have not purchased the traffic capability for my 7710 since I did not find that feature particularly useful on my Garmin.

Before attaching the Garmin cord to the 7710 be sure the power ratings for both cords are identical.
