recomend tv antenna

hi folks, I want to install a tv antenna on my bus and I was wondering how good are the omnidirectional ones are over the crank up ones? I really dont want to spend the extra money if there not worth it, I like the look and the fact that you dont have to crank , and maybe less of a pain to install.

thank you for your time

The omnidirectional don't work as well as the directional. Have you looked at a Jack? No cranking but you still have to rotate in fringe areas.

Red face antenna

I would go with the Winegard, directional, I have a 50 ft. tower at my home and the the Winegard performs almost as well on my RV, my son has a omnidirectional on his RV does not even come close to the performance of antenna on our RV, go to solidsignal.com they have good prices online, if you dont want the fancy crank up, go with the solidsignal.com WINEGARD GS 2200 Sensar III $36.99 + shipping, I use this set up on our rental properties works great it is set up for 120v ac, but if your using a inverter to run you telivision, plug it into the inverter with you tv, it the same antenna as the ones used on rv's just a home version. Oh did I mention it has a built in amplifier circuit, easy to set up and performs great.

Omin-directional antennas are a waste of money in my opinion. Go ahead and get a Winegard Sensar IV which includes the Wingman upgrade.

From my experience, it beats the Jack antenna.

Also, consider checking out the connector on the antenna and maybe replace it. Mine got a bit dirty and loose. 2 weeks ago I replaced my older Sensar with the Sensar IV plus I replaced the connector to the antenna...went from 6 to 16 local channels!

My father in law across the road is going to be soooooo jealous! I think on NASCAR race days we are going to have a visitor!

The Omnidirectional antennas are JUNK!, If I were shopping for a rig, having one of those installed would be a deal breaker they are that bad.

Best, in my not very humble opinion (Limited to what you can put on the roof) is a Winegard Sensar IV,, This is the top of the Sensar (Batwing) line, with the Wingman and the Sensar Pro indoor unit.

Jack and Sensar III tied for #2.

ABSOLUTE best: is not an RV antenna, it would be a portable mast/tower at least 25-50 foot tall with somehting like Channel Master's best on top but that would be like a 30 minutes to a hour or two to set up and take down every time you go from parket to moving to parked. Plus you have to fold it and store it, though it does fold, not an easy job.. Thus not practical.
