We are looking into upgrading our King Dome after reading for months on this forum, and are considering purchasing a REFURBISHED Trac-King. The price is excellent (with trade in of our old King Dome), but we're going to pay a professional to remove the old and install the new. I plan on calling the company this morning to see if any type of warranty is offered, etc. Any recommendations out there???

I have the 9762 model and works well given the dome antenna drawbacks. If you are considering this model, make sure it has been upgraded to handle the Dish Network 1000 and 1000A satellite groups. It is what will alllow you to get all the HD channels. As you probably know with DirectTV reception it will only receive the SD channels and only a few HD channels being it is not capable of receiving the KA band. However none of the Domed antennas are able to recieve the KA band, so that is not unique to the Kingdome products. There are also some limitations with connecting it to a DishNW DVR but it will work despite them saying that it won't.

I see in reading the specifications online that it will support my Dish 211 receiver (DVR) but not the dual 622 receiver. I called Camping World, and they said it would support three receivers - two 211's for HD and one 311 for non HD. But do you think a refurbished one is a good idea? It saves almost $1,000!

It will work with one of the two receivers inside the 622. I have a 722 and it does work with receiver #1. The 2nd receiver works on a different frequency that is not compatible with the Kingdome.antenna. So you'll not be able to record one program life while watching a 2nd program life with the DVR connected with only one input. The Kingdome antenna has a dual LNB so it will only support 2 receivers not 3 as Camping World stated.

If it makes a difference of $1000 to purchase a refurb. unit it seems it would be worth considering. For a $1000 you can get a lot of things repaired and I am sure there is some sort of warranty on the refurb. unit as well. Kingdome has been pretty good to work with when you do have problems

If you check out HOME you can get all the info you want. The 9762 is $1055 with a $200 credit for your old dome. Mine cost me $83 to send it to them. Then the fun began. I've dealt with trying to get mine working for more than two months. The warranty is 30 days but they stayed with me because I started before the warranty was up. I am at the stage of sending this one back for them to refurbish. I was unable to find a sufficient box around here so ordered one from them. The cost is $89 which includes the "kit" and shipping to get it to me. Then I will send the dome and "tuner" to them at my cost($83 for shipping the old one). They will update the software and, hopefully, fix the dome. I'm not happy about receiving a dome that did not work and then the additional expense to me to get it repaired. BUT the cost of going any other direction at this time would cost even more. I "never" purchase refurb anything just because of this. I only did it this time because of their reputation over the past decade. I guess I won't do it again under any circumstances. lol I have seen only one other complaint in that time and it was similar to mine. They did assure me at different times that it would be taken care of when I asked about going beyond the warranty time period.
