.........In simple terms, I want to remove the VCR and replace it with DVD player as well as TV converter box, I don't want to replace the TV's. Does anyone have a diagram on how to hook it up ? I would appreciate it very much.

It's a pretty easy job. Do you know what kind of cables are behind the old VCR? You should have a coax cable, or a a/v cable 3 plugs on it or both. If you can going with the av cables will give you a better pic. The second thing is how old the tv is? And does it have av jacks.

If your DVR has RF-Out (and most do) then the job goes something like this.

Remove the VCR just far enough so you can access the cables and transfer them to the DVR, Hook up for hookup.

You will have up to eight cable to transfer

The RF IN (ANT) goes to the RF-IN (ANT)
RF out (TV) likewise to RF-OUT (TV)
Audio Video cables (up to six) likewise transfer to the same jack on the DVR.

NOTE: Some VCR's and DVR's have multiple linput options, My DVR's for example have two sets of line in ... You can transfer to either set.

But hook up is just transfer, connection by connection transfer.

If not already done,, I'd label the cables as I go (VCR/DVR in, VCR/DVR out is good enough)

I replaced mine with a DVD RW unit. (I like to record the poker game on NBC at 2:05AM AZ time). Just disconnect the cables from the VCR and replace to the same in the DVD unit.

I'm thinking likely what you will find is that the VCR is all hooked up through the switch-box with coax...and coax to the TV's. MOST DVD players do not have coax out, so you will need either a RF modulator (20 to 30 bucks) or a new switch that has the modulator built in. I opted for the new switch box when I did this on my last rig.
