Restoring previous sessions on Firefox

When I have been using Firefox as my web browser and have minimized several programs for future use later and then Exit Firefox to close down or shut down the computer I don't always get a "Restore Previous Session" after I restart and click on Firefox again.

Sometimes I get the "Restore" immediately after clicking Firefox and other times I don't. When the Firefox start-up page comes up without any "Restore" to click on all my previous minimized programs are gone forever.

How do I find them when this happens? Once there is no "Restore previous sessions" and I ever leave the Firefox start up page the next time I click on Firefox it will ask "Restore" but when I click then it just goes back to the previous Firefox start up page that I just left.

Does any of this make sense? All I know is its very frustrating to have a dozen or so programs I'm switching back and forth using them and all at once they are all gone.

Any simple help or suggestions greatly appreciated. Oh, I'm using Vista on an HP Pavillion 6000 laptop, if this helps.

I'm not sure but when I've had that happen I was able to click on the "Firefox" in upper left then click on "History" then maybe even go to a previous day.

On the more recent versions of Firefox under the HISTORY drop down there is a RESTORE PREVIOUS SESSION option... Normally if you have not changed the start up page. or if you click on "NEW" on the "Do you want to" page. it will NOT be grayed out.

Once you go somewhere OTHER THAN THE HOME PAGE. it's grayed out.

I think that was probably my main problem, when I didn't see anything about RESTORE PREVIOUS SESSION I left that start up page and went back to the desk top to start over. Then everything I needed to do was grayed out. I'll know better next time.

Earlier versions of Firefox that I was using up until a year or so ago ALWAYS came back with "Restore Previous Session", but lately it's kind of hit/miss with the newer updates.
