RV Alarm system questions

Hi,

I have found several alarm systems that can protect an rv, our home system uses the cell phone network, but the house is to far from where we will park to tie in to the house system.

For those who use an rv alarm, what company do you use?, do have sensors on just the door, or on windows and bay doors. Also do you use smoke/fire and flood sensors.

Thanks,

There are alarm systems that utilize your cell-phone to alert you to a problem.

We just use a simple $12.95 door alarm from Wal-Mart. We just want to know something is going on when we're there, and when we're away the gosh-awful noise will get rid of the intruder!

Do you have power where your RV is parked? If you do then you have many options that also use the Cell network to alert you of an alarm. You can put sensors on anything you like with the newer wireless systems.

Hi Daycruiser,

I will have power when parked at home from spring to fall but but not at the indoor winter storage.

I am going to try one of the sensors from our home system first.

Cheers,

Monitored 12v RV Alarm, Simplisafe

We did a self install of the Simplisafe System after our rig had a break-in in the storage lot. We also relocated to a different lot with better lighting. We put door sensors on the outside compartment doors and a motion detector inside. It has a fused connection to the coach batteries and small current draw.
I have accidently tripped it a couple of times when first installed and the monitor called immediately and asked for our Code Word. When we are on the road, I change the settings to "notify" vs alarm, so if I miss the call they won't send the police to the storage lot. If we are going to be in one place very long, I just change the location in their Web App to where we are located and call the monitor and let them know I am going to run a test. Easy peasy. $25/mo. Very Satisfied. https://www.googleadservices.com/pag...BAgOEAE&adurl==

I ended up putting a spare motion sensor from the house in the coach.

Its armed when the house is armed. I remove it when the coach is moved.

I use ELK M1 Gold security panel as it integrates well with the "RV Automation" system. Bi-directional data between the two. You can integrate it with a cellular system as well.
I wouldn't add a security proprietary cellular, I would use the one that is already in the RV and that is optimized for RV travel. There are several posts on "Ultimate Internet" that describes the optimizations.

I’ve been using Simpli safe but the problem is when power is shore power is down and Simpli safe batteries are dead...no protection. Has anyone hooked in a battery, 4-Dcells to get through times when shore power is off?

Our rig has a built in alarm system.

We PO'd a whole rv park in 2002 when we left the rig locked and the alarm siren went off. It continued to sound for several hours.

Have not used it since.
