RVS 360° Camera System

Does anyone have any experience with products from a company called RVS - Safe Fleet?

I borrowed a truck recently with a similar system and was surprisingly impressed after initially thinking it would not be that helpful.

I read here that Owl Eye 360 had some issues and was looking for alternatives.

This should be the RVS-77555.

Thanks in advance.

I have the previous model 360 system (installed 2 years ago) from Rear View Safety; it’s not HD and not upgradeable. Their products are well though out, well made and come with very good installation and calibration instructions.

The installation is not difficult but it is time consuming; I had mine installed by Paul’s RV in Wakarusa, IN. It’s not really a DIY installation in my opinion. The labor hours made the installation labor more than the system cost. Camera wires have to be run from the front and rear caps and both sides. On one side of my coach the camera is mounted in the slide, so wire routing was more complicated. The ECU (electronic control unit) on my coach is mounted behind the small basement door under the driver’s side window.

My monitor is mounted on my driver’s side window in front of the windshield post, using a Seasucker suction mount and a couple of arms from Ram Mounts. My monitor position makes it easy to glance from my left side mirror to the monitor for those times I have the 360 system active. In my opinion Seasucker and Ram make the best hardware for this type of application.

I have my system setup to display only the full 360 mode (in portrait) on a 12” 3rd party monitor. My coach already has side-view cameras and a Total Vision rear camera so I don’t need the functionality offered by the individual 360 camera views.

If there are any specific question you have let me know and I’ll try to answer them.

Thanks for sharing this.

Did you have any interaction with RVS support after the installation? My biggest apprehension is spending this much money and ending up with difficulty getting supported if needed.

I'll check out the guidelines for side camera placement. Mounting on a slide with an awning sounds tricky. I don't have any full wall slides so hopefully that gives me enough options.

I haven’t had a reason to use RVS’s tech support. I found their sales support, like their website, to be first class.

I don’t have a full wall slide either, but on my passenger side two slides span almost the entire length of the coach so for the camera to be centered (front to back) on that side it had to be mounted in the front slide.

If you haven’t already done so I suggest you completely read the installation/calibration manual available on RVS’s website on the 360 camera system page under Spec Sheet and Manual.

Sorry, I can't help you with prior experience but, after doing many hours of exhaustive research into replacing my existing single camera backup system, I ordered a 9" Quadview, 3-camera, wired system from RVS. I'm looking forward to doing a DIY install.

I was initially looking at one of their 'wireless' systems which included a wireless rear BU camera and two 'wired' side view cameras so, I thought, 'why not just go with a total wired system.' It's not really that much more work to run the single video cable from the back to the front of the coach.

Also, I read the many reviews here and on other sites about RVS's use of higher quality hardware versus the other suppliers I had researched. In most cases, their hardware cost's twice to three times more than their competitors but, I was looking for a more robust, trouble-free setup and I'm sure hoping I found that with RVS!

I love the idea and what the 360 system offers....I just couldn't justify the cost!

Heck, it's only money...and you can't take it with you!

I didn't realize they had a less expensive option. I don't need the 360 view and a 3 camera view might be a good fit. I will check it out. Thanks
