Has anyone tried Streets & Trips 2008 yet? I have S&T 2006 with GPS and it has worked quite well and am thinking of upgrading to the 2008 version.

Hi,
I also had S&T 2006 and upgraded to S&T 2008. I like everything about the newer version except one small thing that I find completely unacceptabe. The newer version is set up to automatically re-route you if you go off-route for any reason. If you go off-route to investigate somewhere you did not originally plan, then want to go back to your original, saved route, it's too late. The old route is gone.
I normally spend quite a bit of time before leaving planning an itinerary using the roads I think I will prefer, but once you leave the route, even to stop for lunch, your old route is gone, and you don't know if the re-routing uses your old route or not. You can close the current map and re-open your original saved file, but that shouldn't be necessary IMHO.
I've been to the S&T forums and no one has a resolution to this. I would not have purchased the upgrade if I had known that before hand.
Regards, Dick

We had the same problem when we replaced our DeLorme Street Atlas a while back. It turns out there was a place to check whether you wanted it to re-route you automatically or not. Once I unchecked the box, no more automatic re-route. Maybe S&T 2008 has something similar you can uncheck?

S&T 2006 had that option - S&T does not have the option, at least not that I have found, and not that anyone on Microsoft's S&T forum has found.
