Sat Radio-update

Had the little antenae on the dashboard and it worked good heading south until I got half way through Gerogia. Then started losing signal. Had to go back to regular radio. Heading north was a lot worse. I will be mounting antenae on the roof this weekend.

Mine is installed on the roof with the cable routed under white plastic cable protector. (available at Home Depot)

I have antenna on roof with cable routed down the windshield pillar. Works great so far.

If your coach has a fiberglass front cap that rolls into the roof, you might try putting it in the overhead cabinet under the cap. Fiberglass doesn't seem to block the signal. On my Jeep Wrangler, the sat antenna is factory mounted on the roll bar which is under the fiberglass top.

Mine goes up the pillar, across the backside of the cabinets through the front cap onto the roof.

Depending on what is at the same level or above your antenna you may have problems under the roof. On my 99 Braved it was the roof AC that frequently got in the way. On the 2003 Adventurer with basement AC it was the Winegard satellite dish.

I put marine XM antennas on both and they work great. They don't need any ground plane.

This is what I put on the Brave

Marine XM antenna with mast

And this is what I put on the Adventurer

Low profile marine XM antenna

Both work equally as well, the low profile is easier to weather proof as the antenna seals the cable entrance.
