I have a 2005 Fleetwood Expedition 38n. Have the original TV's/converter boxes and I think it has a Trac Vision Sat Dome on the top/stationary model. I do not have service of any kind to the Dome. I am looking at converting my stick house to one of the Sat companies from Comcast Cable. Is one of the sat providers easier to take the box out of one of the house TV's to the camper and use it when camping. I have heard on this site that they haven't been able to do that in that the box does not recognize where you are or something. If I decide to go ahead and put a full time box in the camper will the Sat provider hook it up at the same time they do the house?? Have also heard those guys don't know a thing about camper hookup issues. Sorry so long in this but I need help I don't know anything about this Sat stuff. I am hoping the Dome works... was told it was working by the owner. Merry Christmas to all.....glen

Both Dish and Direct TV receivers can be moved from your stick house to your MH and you will receive the same programming in your RV that you have in your house with two exceptions. If you have HD in your house then according to what dish you use you may or may not receive HD in the RV. The second exception is your local channels that you may receive via the satellite. Local channels are broadcast with what is called a spot beam. Typically once you drive over 200 miles or so from you stick house you will loose the local channels. There are ways to get the standard broadcast of ABC, CBS, NBC and other networks if you want them, but you will not receive the actually broadcast from your home area.

Domes are setup to receive Directv or Dish signals. Most domes require you to change a switch setting to receive the one you want. If the original owner had it setup for Dish and you want to receive Directv then you will need to change the switch setting.

There is no rv dome antenna that will receive hd from direct tv. Hate to talk in absolutes here, but it is so.

My KVH auto acquire (not in motion) dome was set for direct tv, and when I set it up for dish, I had to track down some "service tech only" software and just the right cable, and reprogram the dish to rcv the correct satelites / transponders for dish network. I did this with my laptop, in the infield at chicagland speedway, just had to get speedchannel and espn.

Not sure about yours as it is a lil older, but there are no dip switches on my '08 kvh dome

Ours is an '02 KVH automatic model. We have Direct TV so I had to reset the satellite dish to default to 110 on the control panel. No dip switches.

Call your dome manufacturer for advice --generally, they have dish network or direct tv techies who are very very helpful.
