This is the very short form of a much longer post.. While I will NOT recommend a specific brand or model I will give you some general considerations.
DOMES, If you want "IN-Motion" so you can DVR shows while you drive (or so kids can watch in the back) it has to be a dome. no options. HOWEVER Domes have a problem.
Domes can see one and only one sat at a time, Dish 500 needs two (110 and 119) some domes can rapidly switch between the two (ore even a 3rd HD bird) quickly enough that a single receiver is happy and thinks it has a DISH-500 hooked to it (or a DISH-1000 in the 3-bird set up) but that only works if you have either 1: A SINGLE receiver or 2: Everybody is watching the same bird.. Actually. this is what I used when I had Dish and I was very happy with it.
Roof top DISH mounts, Both Winegard and Motosat make them.. These are full size dishes, they out perform the domes in every way save one.. Can't use them in motion. Only when parked.. If you want to use Sat TV only when parked.> This is my recommendation, 1 or two receivers, DVR's no problem with a DISH type antenna.
IN BOTH CASES Be you domed or dished.. On the receiver or DVR is one or two LNB-IN jacks (2 on a Dish DVR, which by the way is the best in the business) in the/these LNB line(s) put a low cost antenna switch such as the RCA VH-71 which you can get at the Google store for a buck a pop plus S&H, (Google ANTENNA SWITCH)
Run a brand new RG-6 cable from the "B" input to either a Bulkhead (Through wall) connector or to a Ground Block bolted in the basement, (I'd use a dual ground block, in fact I did use a dual ground block) or some other handy weather protected place. (Mine is on the Brake Bracket, if you notice a pluthor of "B" words here then you know the cable from the roof goes to the A as in A-bove, connector)
That way when (not if) you find yoursel under the evil signal eating tree you simply hook up your handy DISH-500 Ground mount (Tripod) antenna, slide the switch over to "B" (do it in that order) MENU-6-1-1 Enter the park's ZIP CODE, wrote down the suggestions, pre-set the elevation and skew (you will need a 7/16" Wrench) and swing it slowly through the azimuth suggestion while watching a portable color TV..
That page on the Dish receivers is worth over 1,000 dollars,, Just so you know how good it is,
Once peaked (you may need to touch up elevation a bit) go to CHECK SWITCH and when that's done.. Enjoy..
The ground mount can be set up to however many feet of RG-6 you have away from the motor home and thus hopefully avoid the aforementioned tree.
