Not picking on you Linda, just trying to get the facts straight.

Also, with the dish network you can received High Definition (HD. I believe you have to have the Premium In-Motion (9762 Trac-King Series) for DirecTV and "Optional HD converter required to receive specially formatted HD signals from DIRECTV 110 satellite. These antennas do not receive DIRECTV Ka band signals from satellites 99 and 103."
The only Direct TV HD programs available on the 110 sat are:

72 ESPN2
79 HD Net
82 NBC - East
86 ABC - East
88 FOX - East

Not much of a selection. I will have to go with Linda on this one.

I'm starting to think we just might be happy with the batwing, along with whatever campground cable connection we might luck into.

We don't watch TV, not counting the 13 yo and his nickolodean full of various wierd cartoons produced somewhere very far to the eat of here.

I just want to see the local (as in where I happen to be any particular day) network news and weather.

That is not the point. The point is that there are "dome" dual LNB antennae out there. The King Dome 2200 receives Direct TV 101 and 119 satellites. Since I'm not a Direct TV subscriber I have not idea of what type or broadcasting they have on each of their satellites. But, sticking with my information, there are Dual LNB Dome antennas for RV's.

I like the easy set up of HD on Dish network, so I have Dish Network.

JimM68,
If you receive Dish satellites 110 and 119 only, you will get some HD broadcasting, but you will not receive the entire package that they provide. You will have to check with them to see what is broadcast on satellite 129. If you have a portable satellite antenna that is capable of receiving all three satellites, then you would have the capability of receiving all of the HD programming the Dish Network has to offer. However, I found it very difficult to align a 3 LNB portable antenna and finally gave up.

I went with the Winegard Carryout. It will receive all of the Dish Network satellites, one at a time. This means you will only be able to watch one channel at a time if the channels are on different satellites since the Carryout automatically seeks the channel you tune to. I have not investigated the Carryout's capability of providing a feed to two different receivers, but with Dish, and some of their receivers, you only need one receiver to view on two different televisions. That is where the problem will come in if someone is watching a channel that is coming off of satellite 110, and someone in the other room switches to satellite 129. That could cause a loss of signal to one or the other.

The Carryout is programmable for either receiving the Dish or Direct TV network signals with DIP switches inside the cover. Once set, it is just left alone. For reasons that are beyond my comprehension, the Carryout will not provide an HD signal for Direct TV receivers. Go figure!

Good luck.
