Satellite receiver

Trying to hook up a Dish 211-Z satellite receiver to my Winnebago motor home.
Have a Winegard Satellite dish mounted on top of the MH. Have a small TV up front and a larger one that we can watch when parked. Bought the MH used -It's a 2014 and the previous owner had a Direct TV box hooked up to the front TV. We've disconnected the Direct TV box and am trying desperately to hook up the Dish receiver with no luck. What are we doing wrong ????? Hooked up the receiver to the TV and the satellite dish-we think. Hooked up an HDMI cable to the back of the receiver and the satellite cable. Can't get the front TV to recognize the HDMI setting. It's stuck on TV. Can anyone help ?????

Are you saying that using the TV Menu and trying to change the Input settings is not working?

On most TVs, the HDMI as an Input option is not available if the HDMI cable is not active, meaning plugged into the powered-on receiver. Checking the HDMI cable connections is the place to go.

You didn't say what Winegard dish you have but it is probably a dome dish and usually there are a set of id switches inside the dome to change from DirecTV to Dish.

But the dome switches will not affect the TV selecting HDMI input.

Direct dish is not compatible with dish. To convert it, depending on the brand and model of dish you might need upwords of 600 dollars worth of stuff.

Satellite receiver

Is it a open faced auto dish ( Traveler) If so as said , it can only receive directv
Good news if that's the case the directv Traveler can convert to dish with about 3-400 worth of lnb and dish conversion. ( a dish Traveler can't be converted to directv )

If it's a dome it should work but needs the correct settings in most cases inside the dome.

Hi ! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!

Part of your problem may be that the dome on top is not compatible with Dish! Keep her between the ditches!

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

The first point is getting TV connected to the receiver.

Whether the dome is compatible is secondary at this moment.

Not true, 450Donn... I go from a direct tv receiver to a dish receiver all the time on my old roof top dome. I just don't HD channels.

You should have a coaxial cable in cabinet. This is from satellite and the hopefully an HDMI cable that will go to TV. That is how mine is. Hook the box to the big tv not the front one.
EDIT: just reread your post. In my coach box only runs large tv. Need to chase wiring to front and outside sets to get direct to them.
