The paragraph above is the reason I bought a UPS, for when the generator shut off and the power briefly went out 1/2 the time, causing my DVR to reboot. When UPS says it won't work very well, what they mean is that it won't work at all. It beeps 4 times every 30 seconds or so when the inverter is working, indicating power failure. I tried all sensitivity settings to no avail. I asked their tech support if they had one that would work, and they told me no.

I later replaced the modified sine wave inverter with a Magnum pure sine wave inverter, and now the UPS works perfectly for that brief period. I believe the Magnum switches over much faster, so I am not sure it is even necessary, but it is there now so I use it.

DVR's use more power than a standard receiver, so I don't try to use the UPS for long periods. I will leave the inverter on if I have something I want to record, otherwise I will turn it off. I have 6 AGM batteries good for about 600 Amp-hrs. Its what they are there for.

Has anyone experienced a reduction in background hum after replacing their MSW Magnum inverter with a PSW? I know this is a chronic problem in lots of coaches when running AV off of the inverter. My GFI receptical in the bathroom buzzes at the same time. Other Monaco owners have told me they have the same issue.
