Satellite Receiver Options
What is the difference between the Wally receiver and the Dish receiver? I see different packages offered on Amazon?

I just answered that on anther thread. The Wally is a dish receiver but it has little capacity. What we use are 211 receivers. They are something you buy for less than a hundred bucks depending where you buy them. You can add a hard drive to them to record programs.

Oh ok. I'm looking at the King VQ Tailgater 4550 bundle I think it is, has the roof mount option on it over the similar model that doesn't. They offer the Dish receivers as well is that 211 a Dish receiver?

The Wally has a wifi capable receiver too. I guess I need to know what is more important streaming to the TV or maybe wanting to record something. Don't think I need either because we are not full timers but I do need to make a decision quick or my next trip coming will not be fun when we get there and there is no cable or TV signals!

You would be better served with a Pathway X2 dish instead of a Tailgater.
Yes, the 211 (211k and 211z) are all DISH receivers.

If you have Dish at home, they will give you a Displayer (with DVR to use in your coach. Cost is only $10/mo so $120 for a whole year and nothing to buy. You will get all of the channels you get at home.
When you call dish just tell them you want a VIP 612 DVR for another room. (The phone people aren't knowledgeable about RV's.)
Their people will come to install it, and you can supervise that. They even supply HDMI cables for free.

The Wally is the new solo receiver from Dish. Same functions at the 211z but new user interface and RF remote. Love the RF remote - receiver in cabinet with door closed and you can change channels. Even from outside in my case

So when you say solo do you mean stand alone or what?

Always something new. What is a Displayer besides a really bad typo?

Single receiver. Not a DVR - you need to add an external hard drive if you want DVR function.

The single receiver only has one out put to one TV, the dual has two outputs that can be connected to two different TVs They can watch different channels as long as both channels are on the same satellite. Usually not a problem as most of the HD channels are on 129

So you don't really need a dish with two coaxial fittings? The receiver can do that? So I take it all the Wally's are solo? How would you change the channels in the other room on a different tv with one receiver?

I don't think you can. That's why we have two 211s. One for each TV. I bought the last one for $60.00. That's less than the rental from Dish.
