I got the Dish Tailgater and a Wally receiver for 375 from Amazon.

I use the Pay As You Go with local station for $45/mo.

You call to start the service and the package you want. Give them your zip where you are parked and they give you those local stations.

I don't use automatic payments because I can be parked in locations where I can get local stations and that is all I need.

danny285 is from Carlisle, Arkansas 72024.

His locals are from Little Rock (use his ZIP with DISH Local Stations Finder).

Once I know what city someone's locals originate from, I use Satelliteguys The List to check out what sats a city's locals are on.

In danny285's case, his Little Rock HD locals are on 61.5 and 77 -- while 61.5 is spot beamed, the HD locals on 77 are ConUS . . . so he'll get Little Rock locals nearly everywhere as long as he can acquire sat 77.

However, danny285's situation is not typical.

Little Rock AR is a unique situation for a while. Currently the HD Locals are on a spotbeam from satellite 61.5 and there is a CONUS (whole US) feed on satellite 77. There are a couple of unique markets like this.

But if you have been following the progression of channels on the Dish EA, satellite 77 is a parking satellite as Dish is reducing the number of duplication channels. The days of the CONUS Little Rock HD Locals are numbered.

To describe this unique situation as the norm for users from other areas is a disservice to others.

For a couple of years, we dealt with just getting SD Locals when we were in the east with our Trav'ler WA only dish. But starting last year, we had to start using our Ground Tripod dish with an EA LNBF head to get EA HD Locals as Dish removed many of the eastern SD Locals from the WA. We use a Hopper and HD Locals are important to us for the Prime-Time-Any-Time function which automatically records all four Broadcast channels. We don't care where Broadcast channels come from, we only care about receiving them.

We bought a used coach with two direct receivers and wind guard sat. We have direct at home. Called direct and 15 minutes later had two new cards on the way.
