I have a 2003 Newmar Dutch Star with a Starchoice Motosat dish mounted on the roof and a standard receiver. I want to put in an HDPVR from Shaw Direct but need a second coax from the dish terminal. How difficult is it to run a second coax from the roof to the cabinet where the receiver is mounted? (Rt side just back of the entry door). Any ideas how to do this?
I am new to this forum and not sure if I have this right?

Thanks,
Harv

I have an '04 Kountry Star, not sure how different, if at all, from yours, but as I recently went through a similar exercise I'll tell you what I did. I changed from a Winegard to a Motosat dish. Using the Winegard control cable as a pull string I pulled through a pull string and then used the pull string for the motosat control cable, three additional coax and a pull string. I fed them in from the top and put the coax ends on after they were in. The big if will be whether there are any zaps or ties on your cables inside the roof, if there is you are back to square one, if one of your existing runs seems to pull free then I think you will be ok. Good luck.

Since your antenna was installed after the coach was built, look to see where the original cabling from the antenna was brought into the coach. Newmar uses a conduit in many of their coaches and there is room from the MotoSAT control cable plus 2 coax cables. If this conduit was used you could open the cover plate on the roof and use one of the coax wire as a pull wire. You will have to make this a 2 step process. Connect pull wire inside the coach to the one existing cable and pull it to the roof. Now, connect the 2 coax cables to the antenna and use the pull wire to bring them into the coach. If things are real tight you can use a drop or 2 of veg. oil or similar to help the cables slip through but generally the cables will go quite well. It's going to take 2 people and one will want to push the cables into the hole while the other pulls. Take your time and work together and you should have the necessary cable in place in no time.

Thanks SRYDVE, I used a fish-tape through the roof and was able to run the coax that way. It was a little trying on the patience but it did work. I had thought of using your method but the origianl coax was so sticky from the sealant used on the cover plate and it would have been messy so I opted to try the fish-tape. Thanks again for the response.

Thanks for the response Bill. There was no conduit through the roof so I opted to try the fish-tape as described to srydve in reply to his posting. Thanks again, it's reassuring to know there are people out there who will try to help a guy.
