Setting up a blog for our winter trip

Hi. I was thinking of setting up a blog to share our travels with family and friends. As a trial, I set one up on google blog. It wasn't really that difficult but then I thought I'd ask if there are other choices that might be better. Are they all pretty much the same? How do you go about letting everyone know about your blog? What do they have to do to follow? I have a lot to learn about blogging. I am wondering if I would just be better to post on Facebook. Any comments?

We use blogspot.com and have about 60 postings on it so far. I give the address (below) to friends and family.
It is easy and allows privatizing it so no ads.
Facebook is okay, but I only use it for immediate postings and pictures.
Give this a look:

word press at wordpress.com is I think the largest blog site. Google has blogger. Also a very popular bog site. Take a look at both before you start writing. It is very hard to change once you start with one or the other.

I have used "www.mytripjournal.com" and like the features, including maps of where you have been. The free version does limit the number of pictures that you can post.
