What kind or record time problems? We use the R-15 and have never had a problem getting the receiver to record what we wanted when we wanted.

We have a R-15 and the software version is 0x1274. The indication of the problem are programs indicating they will recored at the wrong time and for longer than they should. For instance I set a program to record from 8 to 9 pm and on the to do list it will show as recording from 5:41 am till 12:01 pm. DirecTV has acknowledged that is a problem in the current software. I just tried to cause the problem but could not get the error, but I have not got a software update. Maybe the problem was with the downloaded guide and not the receiver software, I will keep tracking the issue.

Although I have had Sat TV for many years I am new to Direct. When I tried to set it up in the MH the first time I had a problem. I could not get any voltage at the antenna until I changed the type of Antenna to a 18 inch round antenna. Then it worked fine and I was able to get TV . The receiver is one from the bedroom and it wants to use the type antenna we have on the house. I have to keep going to the setup screen and choosing 18inch antenna until it finally accepts it. I guess the receiver has a memory and wants to use the antenna that I have on the house.

A comment on the "You are not subscribed" message... As Bill said if the receiver is not connected to the satellite for a long time (weeks) it will not work till Direc resets it
What happens is this: Transmissions are encrypted.. From time to time DTV sends out new codes to foil the pirates and hackers.. Well, if your receiver has the last most recent update, (or perhaps one of the last few most recent) then it will properly read and install the new code.
But if it's not been updated in say 3 months you have to call Direc and they send a somewhat different reset code.. One that causes your receiver to "Default" to the code it shipped with and then they send a special update packet that only your receiver can de-code. Thus keeping the hackers and pirates at bay... They hope.
Now.. this message implies you can hack or pirate... And I"m told there are folks who do that.. I saw one dish network pirate tapped on the shoulder and shut down a few yeas back.. How to pirate DirecTV... Well, Frankly.. I have not the knowledge to do it.

Hi Bill,
Press Menu>Parental, Fav's & Setup>Systems Setup>Info & Test. The screen on the right should give you System Info, listing Software Versions

As I said earlier the problem I first had with incorrect times seems to have gone away. So perhaps it was related to the guide download and not the receiver software as DirecTV told me. I will wait and see.

What? DirecTV (or Dish Network) giving you the wrong information? How could that be!?
