Shower nozzle shut off

Could someone please explain the mechanics of and how to correct the following? When you have a comfortable water temperature and turn the shower nozzle valve off at the shower head then turn it back on after 30 seconds or so, then you get cold water for a period of time before it goes back to prior comfortable temp.

The hot water side will cool and likely the cold side is backing up in the hot line -

a small flow control shut off valve, will allow to run some water & keep the temp closer to what you have.

Hot &cold knobs are open at faucet....water is secured downstream.
Faucet now becomes a mixing chamber-----
*Cold water can over come hot side so cold flows first
*Hot water can over come cold side so hot flow first

Which one depends on the thermal dynamics that is present

*How hot is the water temp and how high is pressure in hot side vs cold side

Having a 'trickle' from shower head can minimize the effect

I solved this problem by installing a Rozin constant-temperature shower valve. This is the BEST modification I've made to my RV. You set the temperature you want with the right hand knob and turn the water on and off with the left hand knob. The temperature of the water stays exactly where you want it no matter how many on-off cycles you use. It's amazing how much water you can save using this valve.

I found out about this valve from this YouTube video:

An Amazon search doesn't find that particular valve anymore, but there is a similar one: https://www.amazon.com/Hiendure-Ther...c+Mixing+Valve

It could be possible to use only the mixing valve portion which is here:
https://www.amazon.com/Rozin-Thermos.../dp/B01FAGWKTC
although mounting this may not be as convenient as simply replacing your existing faucet.

The mounting in my case required a little more creativity than that in the YouTube video but it ended up looking good and working great. A .pdf with pictures of my installation is here: http://www.wouxun.us/Bounder/RV-Shower-Upgrade.pdf

Our Oxygenics shower head is designed to dribble a bit even when the valve is off, which seems to minimize the temp swing.

Shower nozzle shut off

I also installed a quick shutoff valve, cost under $10. Be sure to get one with a short handle or else you can’t spin it all the way around to attach it. But I like the thermostatic controlled valve, you see them a lot in Europe and on cruise ships. I may go that route also when I get the urge for a new project.Click image for larger version

I solved this problem by installing a D Spud, https://www.amazon.com/Pheonix-USA-9...eywords=D+spud or https://www.amazon.com/VALTERRA-LLC-...eywords=D+spud. It replaces the vacuum breaker (fitting between the hose end and the faucet body). I also drilled out my D Spud to make a larger hole to increase my showerhead flow.
