The VMSpc looks like it would be a nice addition to our coach. I don't mind shelling out cash for any worthwhile product but can someone tell me what magic the JIB does that makes it almost $400? Don't get me wrong, I am not trying to berate Silverleaf or make them out to be bandits, it just seems to be a lot of money for a cord with a circuit board. I also realize they don't pump out hundreds of thousands from factory in China due to a small amount of customers.

First task will be to dig out the connector from under the dash or where ever it may be hiding.

They put a fair amount of time, energy and money into software development and maintenance. The software is free, you just have to buy the JIB to use it, The JIB is where they make their money, it also does the scanning and conversion of the data from your vehicle. Your PC is just for displaying the data and allowing you to customize the display..

Everyone has to make a living.

Mark, it reports out lots of data from your ECM. Basically anything the engine (and transmission on some coaches) sensors report to the ECM are available. It will give you readouts on your dash instruments also that are much more accurate. I use it on my laptop in conjunction with Microsoft Streets & Trips. The laptop is mounted on a Jotto Desk. You can also get any codes that are set by the engine in plain English. The JIB is a very small box about 4" x 3". The new units have a USB cable output to your computer. Older units had a serial output that would need a USB conversion to connect to newer computers.

Frankly once you have it operational, you will not want to drive your coach without it.

Thanks Rex & Jim,

I understand what the software does. Very impressive. I am leaning toward must have. We already have a small Garmin GPS that I connect to a laptop and use MS Streets and Trips. The Garmin was a service anniversary award at work so the price was right Streets is great to not only monitor your trip but also to pre-plan it. I have learned not to completely trust it though.

I am not cheap and don't mind any one making a buck. Guess I was just a little shocked at the price. Oh well if you have a cool product that works you get the big bucks for it. So I will shut up, buck up and shell out the dough.
