The reception on my Sirius radio has been sketchy the last few months. Frequently while on the open road, I will lose reception for a few seconds. I am use to this happening when I go under a bridge or overpass, but now it is happening regardless of my surroundings. I have a little black dome on the roof of my coach, which I assume is the Sirius antenna.

Anyone else ever run into this? Could the antenna possibly be going out?

Craig

I have noticed this in my car the last couple of weeks. Maybe it is their signal?

Your post brings up a question. I have a satellite radio that I had in my old truck. New truck has unit built in. I want to install old unit in my TT.
What is everybody using for an antenna on their TT. Is a roof mount necessary? I really don't want to put mounting screws in my roof. Any help
would be appreciated.

I've also noticed the reception issue in my car as well. Glad to know I'm not alone.

Highest probability is a loose antenna. Tighten all fittings and connections.

To All,

Go to XMradio.com/refresh OR SiriusRadio.com/refresh

Type in your XM/Sirius radio ID number that is on radio

Click refresh making sure your XM/Sirius radio is on

Sirius/XM will send a refresh signal via their satellite that will help the radio
better lock on to the satellites(sky and terrestial)

We've also been having "heavy" sun spots recently

H. Miller has the most likely correct answer. We are in the midst of one of the more active sunspot cycles. SOLARCYCLE 24.com / Solar Cycle 24 / Spaceweather / Amateur Radio VHF Aurora Website
Looks fairly good for today.

Following NavyBlue’s suggestion, there is a simple way to refresh your signal without having to write down your radio ID number.

Go to the SiriusXM online account center. Log in, and under the "Services" column you will see your radio ID number highlighted. Click on the number and it will give you the option to, "Send Activation Signal". This is the same as refreshing your existing signal. Follow the instructions on what channel to set your radio to, and your done.

Thanks again NavyBlue.

I vote for sun spot, or loose antenna, but I don't discount refreshing working. Locally I have not had any problems.

In my MH I mounted the little round antenna in the center of the dash. Traveling out west I lost the signals once, but just plugged the iPod in. Other than that it has been doing great.

Do you still have the antenna from your previous truck? Is so, you could velcro the magnetic antenna on the roof. I would not want to drill holes either. My XM antenna is mounted on the CB antenna base of my Class B.
