Would like to hear from anyone using the "a la carte" service. I know it requires a "special" radio reciever, and I think there are only 2 to choose from. Our "built in" Sirius radio is not eligible for this programing choice , but I like the a la carte price and the portability between vehicles is another plus.

Any info is appreciated.
Ed

We are using the Mostly Music plan and the receiver can be used with the stereo in the house the car and in the trailer (with proper cradles and antennas). The Sirius Stratus 6 is $60 and will do the a la carte program and yes I should switch ours to that.

Thanks, I didn't see the cost for a "mostly music" plan, but am interested in the "a La Carte" plan because @ $6.99 (currently) it appears to be about half of what we've been paying.

Anybody else using "a la carte" ?

no a la carte here. just ditched our sat radio after several years. tired of the cost and the DJs. they were fine when i was a kid, but now i would just like to hear my music, please. cant remember when i last used the fm section of my car radio. with 4 iphones in the family, we are not short of music on a trip. or anywhere else.

You and a lot of other people like the a la carte price, but Sirius/XM doesn't. The 'a la carte' plan was pretty much forced on them as a condition of the merger. They don't really want to offer it and fear a high consumer demand (which could really hit their average revenue per unit) and so have restricted the number of receiver models that can support the service to just one or two, meeting the letter of the law without really supporting it.

You're right about them not making it easy...but they are offering one of the two radios for $52.49 (purchase) right now. The programming plan price difference of ~ $8.00/ month equals a pretty good ROI, after the 5 months it will take to break even. The portability is also an attraction for me. THANKS,
Ed

Sirius A La Carte - SiriusXM Radio

We love it as we can pick up any place in the US and Canada and the DJ's on the classical are a bit less annoying
