No, it's not an animal for this thread.

Snow Leopard is Macintosh's new operating system. I have installed it on my iMac 24 and I am now just learning the slight additions, besides it being stated that it is "faster."

One of the new items is the "Speech Preferences." If you are tired of moving the mouse around, you can speak your commands and it will recognize the programmed phrases. example, "Switch to Firefox" will open Firefox. "Apple Menu" will pull down the menu, and "Recent Items" will open the recent items in the Apple Menu, and speaking one of the recent items will open that item.

Anyhow, I'm just havin' fun.

p.s., And it's only $29.

I hate to say it but frankly I'm not that impressed. My system is noticeably slower and the one feature I specifically wanted, the selective copy and paste, only works one page at a time. Had they let me know that I'd still have my $29.

I'm making the best of it but if I don't figure out how to speed things back up where they were I will uninstall it.

I say forget Snow Leopard. It causes printer issues, my WordforMac apps now crash, other apps are quirky and nothing runs any faster on my iMac. I sould have waited for the first service pak to come out.

Methinks ol' Bill might have had a hand in the development of this app, since it does a lot of the same things his OPSYS does.

Snow Leopard is working fine on all four of the systems we installed it on. Had to install new drivers for our Canon printer, but that was about it.

(Pairajays) Jim, yes I got the speech recognition to work without any problems. You do need to go into preferences, speech and turn on the capability.

I have had no problems with the install or apps running. One of the "featured" items is the ability to determine if you need a new driver and go out and get it for you.

I'm happy with my $29 expenditure.
