I need to replace my real small surround sound receiver that came with my RV. It's an Executive something or other. I've been looking for a real small 5.1 receiver with HDMI ouput but am not having much luck. I don't want to buy a "system" at Walmart or such. I need at least 3 inputs.

Go to an online source like Crutchfield.com and nose around. You will be hard pressed to beat a quality car stereo in anything 12VDC. With the right choice you can add an amp, TV tuner and lots of other stuff to equal any home theater sound system.

I didn't say 12v. I want 120v, same type of device you would use in your home.l

I'm not sure that is considered small....I just purchased a Onkyo HT-S3400 - 5.1 system for my 5th wheel. It has one HDMI output and 4 HDMI inputs. As I am rebuilding the entertainment cabinet on my unit, I have only situp the unit on the floor and connected the units together to check the system and sound. Was pleased with the sound and has an AM/FM tuner installed.

It was purchaed on Amazon for less than $300.

Did you have any luck? I need to replace my Sumsung Receive that came with my MH. It's only about 3" tall and has places to plug in speaker wires with spring clips. 5 sets of those and then another 4 spring clips with something else plunged into them. Manual says my speaker terminal is shorted.... Don't know if I can have it repaired and don't want one of those huge units like I use to have in my home surround sound system.

Buy a blueray.

In another year, old style dvd's will be as common in stores as 8 tracks.

Finding just the reciever without the speakers will be difficult to impossible, and probably cost more than just buying a system at a big box store and throwing the speakers away or selling them on craigslist.

We recently bought a panasonic at Target for our bedroom in the stick house.
It has hdmi in and out.
It has normal 5.1 speaker connections.
it's 17" wide, and mayve an inch and a half tall.
It sounds pretty good, and bluray disks are fabulous.
Unit only cost a couple hundred bucks.

Another thing I'm getting into lately...
bought another bluray player, this one has builtin wireless internet. A month ago I say this and said "WHY?"
I've had it 2 weeks, and have yet to stick a disk in it. Didja know if you search you tube for yellostone, you get 5336 hits? Yosemite = 10,500 hits. lots of duplicates sure, but some good stuff too, all free. streams right in and plays on my 42" widescreen and looks great. There are also many paid services, such as amazon and netflixs, that can stream wireless video right into this thing. I'm sure there will be a teency bluray surround sound system with wifi. Look at the box closely, many say "wifi READY" that means you have to buy a separate usb wifi adapter, it's not built in.

What is your definition of small???

Some dimensions please; height, width, depth?
Power requirements: music power, how many inputs, what type, how many outputs, what type?

I do not know if it has HDMI out or not but check with Boise.. You did say Small, they specialize in SMALL.... Save for one area.. The price tag.

I think my headphones (I bought a set of cans from 'em) cost 300 bucks.. But .. They are active noise canceling and when I put them on Well........ I once had a parent apologize for the noise of the kid's birthday party in the room where I was doing my computing while wearing said headsets and listening to some good music (MP3's on the computer).. I looked at him and said "What party" (In truth the headsets are not that good but they took it from Major annoyance and ear splitting squeals of kids to background noise which could be ignored).
