I have a seperate GPS (and a Rand McNally map incidently which has been in there since my first trip with my GPS only). I used to have Co pilot and I switched. I also have an app on my iPhone for the car if needed.

You can do a lot better on price for a 7" GPS so shop around and look around. They are on sale much of the time. I have Magellen 7" (not a reccomendation just a fact) it cost a lot less. It satisfies my needs.

I have an old Garmin. $90 for lifetime map upgrades. Works anywhere. New download last week has many improvements, even easier to read and navigate without confusion. iphone is my occasional double check, but Garmin has proven why they are the best.

While both vehicles have 'the best' new gps's built in...
and we have two smartphones and two tablets with copilot,
I still use the old Garmin 5000 5" screen with lifetime maps, traffic, and updates....

Too easy to use, too nice to read, too many other options that just WORK, without fighting the 2012 version of Sync that requires Sirus monthly payments for traffic or is woefully out of date with maps like the 2011 Audi MMI....

Agree 're Galaxy Tab 7 for GPS. Good sized screen with a suitable vehicle mount works great and using vehicle power, internal battery life is not a factor. Any suitable totally downloaded GPS app works, some with different features and suitability. Can access contact list and use all Phone/Tablet apps to aid in finding locations, and other information, such as Yellow Pages, Allstays apps, Google Earth, Music center, Skype WiFi Hotspot, ereader etc. I often use Google maps for a specific lookup, but generally don't use the navigation component of google unless I have cached the maps. Using a phone or tablet provides many options not available on a dedicated GPS.

I have two dedicated GPS units (Garmin and TomTom) and they work well but do not allow one to integrate other Internet based apps features on the same device.

As I mentioned previously, I run two GPS units using different software (crosschecking routes comes in handy and has caused me to take a second look at the routing). Mainly use the TomTom as one and the Tablet in the RV and the Garmin and my Galaxy S2 in my Toad. Have Phone vehicle mounts in all my vehicles even though two of them have Built-in GPS. (Don't take my vehicles with built-in GPS when traveling with RV
) Use the Galaxy S2 a lot of the time also. Having such a portable information base at ones fingertips is extremely valuable to me.

If I only had one device, it would be my Galaxy S2, this does it all, albeit I like a larger screen in the RV and in my case I opt for a more elaborate configuration by having several choices available. DW had an Iphone but the screen was too small for GPS apps and generally did not like it. I have not tried a Galaxy S3 but I suspect it would make an even better GPS all-in-one device. But to each his own.

I have always used a Garmin in my vehicles. I've had Garmin USA on my iPhone since it came out. I installed it on my iPad. With a good RAM mount on the side window, there is no squinting to read or hard to hear. I have the WiFi only iPad which does not have GPS built in. To correct this since I didn't want to be dependent on cell (i,e, have it hooked up to my MiFi and get GPS), I purchases a small GPS device that plugs directly into the iPad. It is called the UltiMate GPS. Works flawlessly. Garmin downloads the maps to to the iPad so that the iPad is a standalone GPS.
I just purchased the iPad mini and tried it out. I'll stick with the regular iPad. Nothing IMO beats the big screen. Garmin USA does not allow for MH height or weight. I tried CoPilot and didn't like it as much. It could be the fact that I am used to a Garmin, but I tried both (one on my phone and one on the iPad) and in one area, the CoPilot was giving my false directions.
My preference for the MH would definitely be a tablet. With the screen size and mounting where it's at, it fits my needs to a tee.
