Test your sat receiver

My Wally needed a software update to get it back in operation. It took a fair amount of time with phone support to complete, you donít want to waste that time at a campsite and if you are out of cell range you would be out of luck.

I pause my Dish service for the winter months. It always updates when I go back online. It usually only takes mine a few minutes to update. 10-15

Is that a Wally receiver? I wasn't talking about the Guide, but rather the software that operates the receiver. If it is out of date, it is largely inoperable till you go thru the process of updating that software.

Normaly a Sat Receiver that is IN USE (meaning has power and is locked on a Satallite, one specific satellite) gets updates overnight on a fairly often basis.. If the box is say a month or two out of date generally it stil works, but if you unplug it or disconnect from antenna all winter.. It will be so far back you have to call Cuss-Some-More-Support to get it reset.

Updates can happen 2 or 3 times a week.. You never see it because it comes "out of the sky".

You can get the My Dish App and re-authorize you dish without call the support center. Download the app and go to the Out Door section and has instructions on how to do it. I have used it twice to Re-Authorize my Walley. It takes about 5 to 10 minutes to work.
