Here is what I do.
Make sure that the antennae has a clear shot to the SW sky.
Reseat the card that sometimes gets jarred while traveling
Turn on the auto seek on the antennae and wait until it stops moving then turn it off.
Press the red reset button and wait until the system reboots. (or unplug the unit)
90% of the time this completes the process.
For 8% of the time I go into the setup menu and put the local zip code into the location setup and restart the system
2% of the time nothing works.
Seems like moving East to West or West to East causes the most difficulty.
