Just bought an Ubiquiti 'Bullet' AP, which I installed on an outside-mounted wifi antenna. Network cable enters the motorhome, connected directly to the laptop network connection, and did the set-up.
Everything went fine, and I am picking up really good signals. But I wanted both of us to use it, so I bought a Cradlepoint CTR-500. I was going to install the CTR in a dead-space up in an overhead compartment, thinking I would seldom need access to it.
But my hopes were dashed when I realized that every time I want to 'View available wifi networks', I will need to unplug the network cable from the Cradlepoint, and connect it directly to my laptop... go thru all the 'change network settings' to static, log in to the Bullet, look for a wifi sig, then change network settings in the laptop, back to dynamic, then unplug the network cable fromt he laptop, and re-connect to the CTR.
Only then could I log in to the CTR wifi, and finally, I'm on the internet.
I have to go thru this exercise every time we move to another place; or find a different network. Does anyone else here, using the Rogue Wave system, also find this cumbersome and inconvenient?

CaptBill -
I understand your point as I also run a Cradlepoint CTR-500, but I run mine with an Air Card so that avoids the problem of trying to hook up to the local WI-FI. Sorry, but I don't have a solution to your delima, but I'll be watching if someone else does.

I have one possible "solution", albeit things become more complex with each turn:
Suppose I buy a little wireless access point, or cheap router (with DHCP disabled), and connect the network cable from the Bullet into it. Then connect another jumper from it to the CTR-500.
I should be able to access the Bullet, for the purposes of configuration/selecting a network, wirelessly via my laptop, logging into the access point. Then I should be able to log into the CTR-500 wirelessly, and connect to the internet.
So now I'd have a Bullet, a wireless router, and a wireless access point, and possible an aircard to round it out.
Geeze... what next :-)

How about an A/B switch for the network cable, allowing you to switch the Ubiquiti 'Bullet' AP to either the router or laptop. I seem to recall someone on the forum doing this. Perhaps he will respond as well

Good day all - here is a solution that worked for us - albeit that we have a slightly different configuration.
Set your Cradlepoint to use a different IP address system than the Bullet AP. Once you do this, your should be able to access the Bullet AP from your laptop via your wireless connection to the CP.
For instance, the Bullet AP probably assigns IP addresses in the 192.168.0.1 range - which is good. It will automatically assign your CP an IP address whenever the CP is turned on and connected to the Bullet AP.
Set your CP to assign addresses in a different IP range, such as 192.168.XX.1 (where XX is any number that is different than the range used in the Bullet AP) Doingt this will then automatically assign your laptop(s) IP addresses from the CP (using the 192.168.XX.X address range).
Any connected laptop should then be able to directly address the Bullet AP by entering the Bullet's IP address in a browser window. Same for the CP, simply enter the IP address for the CP (192.168.XX.1) and you'll see the CP configuration menu.
Hope this helps!

I checked in with Wifi Ranger today via live chat, and was told that the W.R. Pro will work with the Bullet (and that the standard W.R. will not... which I don't understand. The Bullet can connect directly to a computer network connector, or to a router's WAN port, so why not a wifi Ranger? However, they should know their product.
I will try Mark's suggestion, and see how it goes. I need to decide soon, what I want to do, as I have the remainder of this week to return the Cradlepoint router for refund, and the remainder of this week to buy a W.R. Pro for the price of the standard W.R. ($109.95).
Just have to figure out which is the better unit.
