I have installed a Winegard Trav'ler 1000 with two VP211 HD receivers. I cannot seem to get the receiver off LNB 1 to work properly. The back receiver works fine off LNB2 and acquires the satellite with no problem.

To check out the system, I have insured that both receivers work fine by swapping the cables feeding the front unit with the one feeding the back and the front receiver works fine when fed by LNB2 but not with any other LNB. Thinking it may be a feed cable problem from the roof, I bypassed the feed cable with an RG6 quad shield and still no luck----then put the terminator on LNB1 and changed to LNB3 and still no luck. Can get the screen to show the program title and time remaining, but no picture at all and in time the message comes up that it lost the satellite.

Any ideas from those who have a Trav'ler 1000 with Dish.

The connections aren't really LNB1, LNB2, etc. Each connection gets all three of the LNBs, with internal switching. I have the Trav'ler 1000, but haven't looked at the connections. On the Dish 1000.2, there are three or four possible connections to go to receivers, and I think there is one for an additional input to the dish. I'm not sure why we'd need input to the dish.

You symptoms may be something with the dish, switching or cables. I haven't seen a situation where the receiver shows partial information then loses the signal.

I have Expressvu In Canada and the Traveller 1000 in the RV. Exprvu is very similar to Dish but I can't say for certain identical. At home, the receivers use an external SW44 switch. This is obviously not present in the RV. However, within the traveller 1000 is an internal switch connecting the 3 LNBs to the coax outputs to the coach. This internal Switch is different than the SW44 and if you receiver has been used on / is configured for an "SW44" or another switch, things won't work properly. As I recall I had limited transponders.

The solution is to run the receiver "Check Switch" when you turn it on to get it to configure the receiver for the Traveller switch which I believe is a "DPP 1K2". Once the reconfiguration of the receiver for the new switch is completed, you should have all transponders. Exact process is in the Traveller Installation manual (P 8).

Hope this helps, unfortunately I have described my problem/fix from memory and your issue sounds similar to mine so good luck!!

Bob

bobmac;

Thanks for the heads up and this was the exact problem -- was fooled by one unit working fine and if I swapped cables the other unit worked fine.

You are a lifesaver and this is one of the best sites going.

Best Regards

Lash.. The great thing about these forums, and others like them, is that when you have a problem, Odds are at least one of us has "Been there and Done that" as they say.

Yes, it's great.. It is how I learn about problems and fixes, and it's helped me in more than a few cases... Glad you found your solution,

A side note on those DISH receivers: If you were to go out and buy a meter to do what MENU-6-1-1 does.. (And yes, they make one that does just that) $1,000.00 would not be an unreasonable price.

That's how good DISH hardware is.

wa8yxm:

Appreciate the response and support and am very very satisfied with the Travler 1000. This is my first experience with satellite and Dish makes life a little easier on the road.

Regards
