Trouble with Winegard Trav'ler dish

We recently our location from Colorado to Arkansas. When I called Directv (AT&T) to change my service address and be able to receive local Network channels, they said my dish (Winegard Trav;ler) was the old type and prodcasting had been changed from Standard to a higher grade.

Now I would need to have my dish upgraded. What are they talking about?
Or is this more AT&T bs? We had no problem in Colorado.

I suspect you have a travler Sk series? If so then it might be obsolete. The newer travler is what their probably talking about.

I'm surprised you got a DirecTV support rep that even knew what you were talking about!

It's getting harder and harder to temporarily change your service address thanks to AT&T's "new and improved" billing systems. Lots of folks complain that their request turned into a $200 move order!

Not sure what Trav'ler series I have. Didn't realize there was any other than the SK SWM series Trav'ler.

DirecTV has been moving local channels to the Ka-band satellites located at 99 and 103. If a Trav'ler is the oldest model, without HD capability, then it won't be able to receive those channels. But since your coach is 2015 model it's highly likely that your Trav'ler is the SK-SWM model which should have no problems receiving them.

I'd call DirecTV again and figure the next CSR you talk to will know more about the issue than the first one did.

Streaming? That all well and good IF your parked near a large city with really strong 4G connection. So many folks would rather camp somewhat remote. For the last 7 years as a camp host we were lucky to get 3 bars of 3G service early in the morning. For us the only chouces werw DVDs or sat.

Thanks Joel, I'll give another call a try. Sounds like since AT&T took over no one there knows "come here from sikem". I must have been transferred to at least 10 different individuals over 5 days and 3 hours on the phone. Most of them don't speak clear enough English for me to understand half what they are saying.

With all due respect, your characterization of where "streamable" 4G service is available is out of date with respect to current service in the US (and even Canada). We rarely are near major cities and, in fact, have had acceptable 4G service in some rather remote locations. You may wish to retain your satellite TV service, but IMHO it is no longer necessary for many people.

The literature with my Trav'ler indicates it is Model SK-SWM3. Don't know if this is the latest or not.
Did make another call to DirecTV only to be told again that my antenna is out-of-date and needs to be up-dated in order to receive local stations so they wanted to send out an installer to examine and/or repair it.

How can I tell them he probably wouldn't know anything about an RV antenna, which I think most of them don't know anything at all about anything on an RV?

I was okay in Colorado one week and the next week in Arkansas everything is wrong. How can one state be ahead of another with changes like they are insinuating?

I would contact Winegard customer service. They are very responsive even if you have to leave a message and have them call you back. They also monitor this forum so maybe they will respond to this thread.
