It wasn't your post that I thought I saw someone suggesting, or backing that up. That's what I get for working 16 hours, driving 200miles, flying home, then trying to focus on forums...
I know Jeff... You likely skipped over mine. I think you and I are the only ones warning of the possible problems of increased noise level and reduced Signal/Noise ratio

One nice thing about digital.. I've pulled digital signals (well this laptop has) out of the air and decoded them when I could not even hear them or see them on the display.

Kind of impressive to read a message on the display when you can't see the carrier on the waterfall (This is not television, it's text, but the concepts and effects are identical)

And I've a radio with a pair of buttons on it. ATT(entutation) and PRE(amplifier)

Sometimes the signal is clearer if I turn off PRE and/or turn on ATT

I don't remember if I posted it here (I did elsewhere), but I have a really cool little device the makes pointing the antenna almost simpler than raising it.

HERE is the link.

OK, first off definitely do not not add another amplifier into the line. The Winegard Sensar has an amplifier built into the head and will more than make-up any signal loss you have in a normal coach cable run. My only exception to this is if you are splitting this signal out to 3-4 tv's in your coach. (Which I'd love to see 4 tv's in a coach!)

An amplifier can only amplify the signal that comes into the antenna. As I hear one of our tech guys down the hall say a thousand times a day... "what's a hundred times nothing?"

The reason you are having such bad reception in that park is frankly it's distance to the broadcasting towers and the terrain and obstacles between you and those towers. That is going to be a very hard area for any antenna to pickup signal. If this same situation was for a home user in the area I would recommend a very large outdoor antenna mounted about 50 feet up on a tower.

Now, if you are having lots of issues in other locations their may be some other things to look at and replace. But if you have good signal in other areas and just not this one, I'm afraid it's just the location.

Unfortunately your current situation has nothing to do with the conversion. In Livingston, TX you are 65 miles away from your closest towers and 85 miles away from the majority. Similar to the user above you would need an HD8200U mounted 50 feet in the air to have a shot at bringing in those signals and even that will most likely not pull in signal 85 miles away.
