TV audio over radio speakers
I have an older dash radio that does not have AUX input capabilities. Any thoughts about new dash radios that have aux input where I could plug in the mini jack earphone cable (from the TV) and drive the volume over the 4 radio speakers that are there now?

There are a lot of radios at all prices to choose from. I changed out a perfectly good AM/FM CD radio to a Sony that has front input and USB connection that can control my iPhone or iPad for audio books and music. Not hard to do at all.

I have a small FM transmitter I picked up at AutoZone, it has a USB type recharge cable so you can recharge off any USB charger (12/120 or computer volt).
No wires needed to radio.
I have older units as well that eat AAAs but they are not as nice as the little one I got at Autozone, for one thing they have preset frequencies, where as the Autozone one covers the entire band,.

I forgot that one of the features of the new radio was a wireless remote. I mounted it on one of the steering wheel spokes with velcro tabs and it's much more convenient than stretching for the radio controls. Probably worth the cost of the switch alone!!

Update
I went to Walmart today and they were out of the Boss CD/AM FM radio for ~$49. The lady said we do have this JVC that does at least the same for $35 and it was a closeout item. Even has a remote. So I will be hooking it up tomorrow. I bought a 18' earphone extension cable and will run it from the TV which is center top over the dash, down the inside of the window pillar and into the back of the radio where there is a second AUX input. It will not be seen. Then I can choose the source on the radio and get TV audio thru the radio speakers (4) that are built in (2 in front area and 2 in rear living area).

JVC Installed
All went well but I took my time to get all the wires crimp connected as I did not want to have to go into the dash again. The cable from the TV earphone jack to the rear AUX input on the radio works great. I strung it thru the upper cabinets, down the pillar on driver's side and under dash to rear radio input port.
I can control the TV volume and muting either via the TV remote or the radio remote.
All speakers work great and it also has a remote for volume control, mute, source etc. Thanks for the feedback.
