TV disconnect

How do I go about allowing my front tv to work while I am in motion. I know that the law states it should not be on. I want to set it up so I can have my passengers viewing it with a headphones set up.

Look at the box where the TV is plugged into power. It should be a double size box with only one or two outlets. There should be a 12VDC wire or wires going to that box. Cut both wires and tape the ends. DO NOT CUT BOTH AT THE SAME TIME :-)

To make the TV work with the engine running. UNPLUG it and plug it into a DIFFERENT outlet.

Now this can be very useful if you have a roof-top Satellite antenna and need to position so you are clear of the evil signal eating tree, and is for this reason I post those instructions.

HOWEVER if the TV is on while you are rolling, rolling, rolling down the highway some Civil Servant, in a Uniform, who feels he is overworked and underpaid (Don't we all) may feel the need to inform you of the laws regarding operation of a television where the driver can see it.

This,, can be an expensive lesson depending on his honor the judge. (It is illegal in most not, if not all states).

But,, as I said, it is necessary if you are trying to log onto a satellite (not something you do on the freeway).
