My on/ off button operates sometimes if I jiggle it enough. The remote works fine. Is there something I could spray in there to assist the contact?

Why YES, Cliff, there is.
"Spray contact cleaner" is available at Walmart or any 'general merchandizing' store. Be sure it's 'safe for plastics'.

Thanks MC. I knew there was something but wanted to be sure. Your warning of "safe for plastics" is really good advice. I don't want to replace that 100 lb anchor anytime soon.

You ask if something "MIGHT" help.. I agree with MC, but the key word is MIGHT.
Just so you know.. I'd give it about a 30% as sometimes those switches are impossible to get the cleaner where you need it.
Something else that MIGHT help.
Unplug, no power to the TV, and push the button 50-100 times. Then plug back in.
I've had TWO switches so far respond to taht.. (Which is right around the percentage of times it worked too)

The reason this method wouldn't work MOST of the time is because MOST switch contacts don't 'wipe' across each other as the switch actuates. Instead, they just 'come together', as your finger and thumb would in a pinch.
It's important that the contact cleaner get to the 'switch contacts'. This would entail possibly removing the switch from the TV or at least removing any cover preventing you from getting the sprayer wand (the little plastic tube) into the crevasses of the switch.
BTW, as far as being 'plastic safe', it may be/ or NOT be depending on where you buy it. Contact cleaner from an electronics store, (look for a wholesale electronics parts shop) is more likely to be safe for more plastics.

I think you just need a cleaner. Dust has reached the insides/detectors.

Michigan camper... I do agree with you .. The advantage of the "Cycle it with power removed" method of cleaning is... the price,, costs exactly nothing. That said, I do admit that I'm always surprised (Two times so far) when it works.. It very often does not work. Even when the switches are the "Self Cleaning" type.
