Basically you can't. The plug that your tv and DVD is designed to switch off when you put the RV in drive. I just went out an bought a extension cord to use the next closest plug

It is illegal in a lot of states to have a TV on that the driver can see.
When ours was growing up, she was content to read a book or work puzzles.

You'll need an inverter unless you plan on running the generator all the time... and NOT one of those little ones you plug into the cigarette lighter socket. Install your inverter in your entertainment cabinet and then the TV just plugs into it while your driving. A thousand watt inverter is a good size... will run the TV and DVD player with ease.
ps.. unless you also have an in-motion satellite dish... do like TXiceman, by some good books or a portable DVD player

Find the receptacle where the TV is plugged in. First try moving the TV plug to the other female plug and see if the TV will play with the engine running. You do have to have 110VAC.
If that doesn't work, look for a couple of small wires coming out of the back of the receptacle (not the 110VAC) and cut one of them.

There is a sound reason why TV's do not work while we drive---think it over.

IF it is possible for the driver to see the TV, even if it is very uncomfortable for him to do so, then it is illegal in all states for it to be on while driveing.
If it's impossible for the driver to see the TV, simply unplug it from where it's plugged in and move it to another outlet, You may need to use a cube tap or other multiple outlet adapter but the outlets provided for the sat receiver or the house radio are often not interlocked.
But if the driver can see it.. Remember you are driving down the road in a $100K plus gas hog and some police officer who sees it through your window will be thinking of how rich you must be (Even if you are not) and how overworked and under paid he is.
I know for a fact they have written that ticket... I'm the dispatcher who was asked to have the Sgt. .look up the chapter and verse (Section and sub section) in the vehicle code so the officer could write a PROPER ticket and not have it dismissed on a technicality (Which by the way is my preferred way to find out about these things.. You see, Where as I got PAID for that incident (so much an hour) The driver got to PAY, and quite a bit more than I got paid too)

Legal issues are one really good reason for me not to do this.
I wonder what the implications for me would be regarding liability if I had an accident--no matter the cause---if the TV was on and I was in violation of the law. Maybe my liability coverage would be questioned by my carrier. Maybe I could be deemed at fault, or share the fault regardless.
I wonder what an opposing attorney would make of a case against me in court if that TV was on during an accident any accident.
I know speaking only for myself that when I get into tight situations, traffic, parking lots, crowded streets in town, backing up in close situations etc; I turn the radio off. Any distraction is too much when driving these big heavy beast.
TV's are wired off for a good reason----I would think it over.
But that's just me. I wish you well.

I don't think he ask for a legal opinion, but how to let his kids watch tv while driving. All who have jumped on the "NO TV" band wagon never asked where the tv is located.
I use this inverter that I purchased from Graingers. It will power the TV and DVD player.

OK, this not watching TV while on the road could bring up another situation. Most of us have back up cameras. What about watching them while driving? Basically the same thing. You take your eyes off the road.
Some say a backup camera is safety equipment but then why don't all coaches and trailers have them?
Just a thought.
Oh yes, the OP didn't question the legality of it, he just wanted to know how to make the TV play.

Because not all "safety devices" are legally required. Navigation systems, lane departure warning systems, radar-monitored cruise control and automatic braking systems, etc. are examples of optional "safety devices".
Viewing a TV, on the other hand, is specifically prohibited while driving. If posters wish to so inform the OP of the legal ramifications of his/her request, then they are certainly within their purview to do so.

My Granddaughter was very happy to watch DVD's on a 15" screen Laptop.

And if someone ask how to mount 15 year old used tires----we should not discuss the the risk, the implications, we are bound only to remain silent or aid him?
I am new here maybe I do not understand the rules. I do not regret or mind a bit explaining to him what I would consider in the same circumstance----think it over.
He's old enough to make his choice well advised.
Let me try this:
I do not know how to disengage the mechanism which will allow your tv to play----TV's are off for a reason---violate it at your own peril.
Would that be within the guidelines?
I wish you all well.
