Radio Shack has the 8-in-1 remote on sale for 19.00 was 29.00. I have one & it does all in my Voyage, even the Bose Wave radio we have in the rear bedroom. The Bose has a credit card type remote that you have to push with your fingernail. I have never liked it. The Radio Shack one even has Maco which lets you push one button & it will first turn on the TV then the DVD or whatever you want in any order with just one button. It sure was nice to get rid of all the other remote's that were all over the dashboard. Art in Mobile

The Logitech Harmony is the Cadillac of remotes. This link is for one of the fancier models. When the Dow hits 13,000 again I'll buy one

John: as usual, you've come up with another great way to part with a few dollars!! It would be great to get rid of the 5 remotes just in the living room/cockpit area (TV, DVD, Satellite, RV Radio, Sirius) 3 remotes outside (TV, DVD, iPod) and 1 TV remote in the bedroom. Have you built the Harmony to see if it is compatible with all of the '05 components we have? I dont' have access to my coach to get the model numbers.

So, you're not planning on buying one anytime soon.

Art,
I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for. I don't think I would be happy with a remote that cost so little, but you might be?
I have a remote at home that I paid about $500.00 for about two years ago (probably cheaper now). You push one button and all my equipment turns on or off and all functions can be controlled from one screen (even my wife can use it.)
I have a similar one but paid about $300.00 several years ago that I transferred from my house to the coach when I bought the new one. It does basically the same thing. The difficult part is the set up which is programmed through a computer, then transfered to the remote, but I have a friend who is a lot younger than me and very Tech savy. He had it all set up in about an hour or so.
I wish you well in your search, the one John pointed out looks like a good one too! Good luck and Keep us posted.

As a long time Harmony owner I can tell you that this is absolutely a fantastic remote!
You go on-line and enter the exact equipment that you have and the remote sets up the proper commands. You can customize which commands appear on the screen and in what order. This is a very simple to program and operate remote and it will turn multiple pieces of hardware on and off based upon that particular function requires and then turns them all off together, or not, as you desire.
There are a variety of remotes including an RF version if you don't have a direct line of site to the hardware you want to control.
It's the Bee's Knees!

I guess I am getting old. I used to go to the more expensive stuff thinking I would get a better product. As flying was my hobby I got used to paying a lot for gadgets. Now I have found that once in a while a good product comes along that works & is cheap! I also looked into the higher priced remotes & was about to get one. What stopped me was I don't like having to put it back in a charger & I have found out that when that rechargeable battery goes bad, getting a new battery is just one more hassle. The Radio Shack uses normal get anywhere battery's. I have not had to replace them yet & I have played with it a LOT! It also can turn on or off several items at once (Maco) mode. It has the learn mode so you can put another remote nose to nose & it will become that remote or you can just put in the ID code of your device from the many codes listed with it. It is alright if you want to spend 3 or 5 hundred dollars for a remote. For those who don't I am telling you this is a FANTASTIC remote for 19 dollars that you can throw down on the floor or couch. Model # 15-100 8-in -One remote. No I do not work at Radio Shack. Art in Mobile

The Harmony remote also does not require any rechargeable batteries or charger unless you go toward the REALLY high end unit. I can't find any particular advantage over the low end Harmony to justify the higher priced ones other than aesthetics and a very slight "cool" factor.
$300-$500 for a remote! Yikes! I think I paid $79.00 for my Harmony.

WOW this thread is incredible, just think where we were 20 years ago. Getting up off our A...ses to change the channel. Now we need universal remotes because we have more than one remote to sit down with. Oh well I guess that's the price of progress. I'll stick with the multiples for as much TV as I need. LOL

Bill,
I need an RF model. Which do you recommend? I didn't see any for $79. The least expensive was $99. Some took my breath away.

Hi Ho: The problem I have had is not turning things on and off, but having all the other functions that are on a particular remote. The satellite TV remote, for example, has a whole lot of buttons that are useful that are kind of particular to that function. I have had several "universal" remotes but have not really been happy with any. A son gave us one about 8 inches by 14 inches with really big keys--I think as a joke. Well, I will admit that except for the satellite controller I do have to use glasses. I think that has something to do with age.

Dirk

We have the Harmony 720 ...I love this remote. It works well if you take the time to make notes before you set it up.

You may also be able to find this remote at Wal-mart if Costco is out of it.
