TV signal meter
What is everyone else doing to locate the strongest digital tv signal?
It takes my tv ages to do a scan for local stations. I would like to know where to point my antenna without having to wait for scans, then having to rescan after rotating to another direction.
Most signal meters are for satellite signals.
I don't have a satellite dish.

Use www.antennapoint.com to verify the location of the transmission in your area. It will give you a compass heading for the location you are in to point your antenna. Set it to the required heading and program your tv.

SureLock is one product.
I have a Winegard Sensor Pro that works well.

The Jack is much more directional that the old batwing, with the SensarPro it makes aiming much easier.

I upgaded my winegard.. First, Winegard sensar anternnas already outperform the Jack in independent lab tests done by other forum members, Add the wingman they perform better still, add the SENSAR PRO indoor module and.. WOW!!!!
The Sensar Pro INCLUDES a digital scanner and signal meter as one of it's many functions.
That coupled with the meter in my receiver (TV) lets me peak on 2 signals at one time.. Rather handy.

Sensar Pro fan here as well.
Note that on occasion in really weak areas, it will leave you high and dry indicating no signal in the area. We have persisted on occasion, and found 1 or 2 stations with no help from the Sensar Pro. Those occasions are rare, and the stations found admittedly weak. Just pointing out the potential. And yes, we are digital.

I suspect an analog station won't show on the Sensar Pro.. (It is after all a digital meter) and there are still a few Analog's out there (one where I'm at).
I have found signals with the sensar Pro my TV's could not receive as the signal was not strong enough.. Of course the variable gain amplifier in the Sensar Pro did help a lot with that problem.

I suspect that it will identify analog stations. Reading the manual, it indicates that it does not do digital station number translation: it will instead indicate the RF channel number of a digital station, not the mapped display number. So it looks to be strictly an RF signal meter, not a specific digital TV meter (and there's nothing wrong with that.) Both digital and analog stations are broadcast using the same RF bands, the difference being the way the signal is modulated (encoded), so this meter should be equally comfortable with either.
Sounds like you have a Sensar Pro, and an analog station in your area, so why not try it and see if it picks it up?
