We are looking to replace our old console TV. In a 5th wheel what is the best type to get plasma or LED?

Get an LCD, either standard backlight or LED.
We have a Sony LCD in the front and a Samsung LCD in the bedroom. Both excellent pictures, but I like the Samsung controls a bit better. The Sony is a bit of a nuisance to re-program the channels when we want antenna or cable tv at a new location.

when we replaced ours we opted for a Sony LCD with DVD player. We did alot of research as some use more battery power than others and our son likes to watch videos on our way to and from the destination and we would rather not use the genny, so we use the inverter instead.

Yep, I went with two LCDs and have been happy with the choice.

Plasma TVs are heavier, use more power, and do not tolerate vibration, altitude, and temperature extremes as well as LCDs. That's based on specifications. I have heard of plasma sets in RVs, so just something to think about.

Several years ago I bought a very expensive Plasma tv. Very good quality picture, nice features, but it suffers from burn in. If you watch a lot of shows that have news tickers or continuous still images, this can be a problem. New plasma's may have solved this, but my next will be an LCD/LED
