Greetings,
I'm planning to udate/replace the Panasonic DVD/CD/FM and selector switch in my Southwind. Both TV's have been replaced. Has anyone taken on the task or have any suggestions? Any feedback appreciated.
Thanks

Thanks for the quick reply, 007 but the "here is a list" link took me to a general auto electronics website. Was "Care Electronics World" what you were recommending as a list?
Thanks
Al

If you have already changed your TV to a flat screen HD TV, then consider purchasing a home theater DVD system to replace your existing VCR/DVD.

I recommend purchasing the same brand unit as your TV, as 1 remote will control both.

Assuming your old DVD was your surround system, as it is in many coaches, hook the 2 up with HDMI cables which carry both sound and video. Also check out 'optical audio out' on the TV as it should pump all sound output into the DVD/surround sound system.

You will probably end up not using the speakers on the new home theater system, as you can wire the new system into the exisiting surround sound system.

This all depends on how your existing coach is wired for sound. But it's possible, and possibly a relatively inexpensive solution, as, for example, a Samsung surround sound system w/ DVD player can be purchsed at Wally World for about $200 .

Wow, great advise. Thanks Don. Would I still need a A/V selector switch or just use the modes from the new Samsung?

The new TV's (I just installed a Samsung) allow you to control the whole system from the remote via selecting on either the 'source' button or 'HDMI' button.

This is why I recommend purchasing both the HDTV and DVR/home theater from the same manufacutrer. Don't need multiple remotes to make the system work!

My coach (see signature below) has a Radio/TV switch. Once in the TV position, everything should work from the remote if you wired the new system via HDMI and/or optical output between the TV/Sat box/DVD home theater. It can be done!
