Use web in place of Dish or DirecTV?

I was wondering if anyone tried streaming TV using Hulu or Netflex instead of using Dish or DirecTV. I have a TV that is able to get get Internet via wifi in the S&B. I am thinking I could get the unlimited data plan from Millenicom and use my Cradlepoint router for wifi. Then on the road hook up the TV in the MH to a laptop to get same type of service . Am I crazy?

I have dabbled with streaming video via WiFi on the road with mixed results. Requires a good WiFi signal as well as a good back-haul to the RV campground or hot-spot - something many RV campgrounds and public hot-spots don't provide. Some RV campgrounds or hot-spots purposely disable streaming protocols to preserve their bandwidth.

Double check the possible limits on that unlimited. There may be issues with streaming too many videos and/or movies. They take up a huge amount of data and bandwidth and if you do too much there may be something in the TOS that will allow them to kick you off for a short time or permanently.

Bad idea.. If you stream live video using the campground Wi-Fi you will be labeled a LEACH and your neighbors won't be happy, also as users pile on you won;'t stream either.

And if you use your own Cellular link then unless you get a truly unlimited plan,, You will quickly run up against the PAY BY THE BYTE THROUGH THE NOSE point.

And though I have an "Unlimited" plan, the fine print says onlly so many bytes (Well Gigabytes) are "High speed" then grass grows faster as they throttle me down. NO extra fee though.

Plus if you happen to be in a "I can't hear your" area. No stream either.

In fact, where I am, I can hear you just fine if you call.. but I can't stream video (1G service.... Takes 4G to stream well)

Millenicom unlimited is not really unlimited.

The unlimited service is for personal and family use and is not to be used for commercial purposes or as a public WiFi or broadcast to multi-dwelling units or any other extraordinary circumstance. Usage over 50 gigabytes in one month will alert our investigative team.
